When Mr. Purshottam Patil a social worker, informed HISWISH Trust about a school where Tribal students go for a village, we were keen to have more knowledge about them. We went to the school to learn that about 200 students are enrolled from grade VIII to X at a School by the name “Adivasi High School” (Adivasi means Tribal) at village Valvande, Taluka Jawahar, District Palghar. This town is at about 110 km from Mumbai. There is no other source of formal education here.

The school was started by the acting principal Mr. Gole about 10 years back in an old abandoned Poultry shed. Mr. Gole himself comes to teach here from a distance of about 40 km. He and his colleagues have worked hard and the school has a proper one-story building to accommodate several classes and an auditorium which can accommodate 200 students.

These Tribal students walk up to 5 km from other tribal villages around to make it to school. Their family hardly have any fair income sources, wherein they can have proper meals, forget sending their ward to school.

Mr. Purshottam mentioned to us if we can help them with the notebooks required and we were pleased to present these 200 students, their annual notebook requirement. We are thankful to Mr. Kapil Gupta, our patron for participating in the noble cause.

The teachers who come to teach here, have no source of their own salaries unless some charitable trust presents them some monetary benefits.

  • HISWISH charitable is planning to adopt this school on a long-term basis, so as the teachers could be remunerated for their efforts.
  • HISWISH would like to arrange for daily midday meal for all the students of this school.

We look forward to our patrons to come along with us to participate in this noble cause.
